- Context
Located in a quiet impasse, this townhouse had been uninhabited for over 40 years when the new owners decided to renovate this sleeping beauty. The building had several constraints: the first two levels were only served by an external staircase and the attic was only accessible by a ladder, the spaces were very partitioned with the presence of many pilars, the openings could only be made on the south side and the whole house was in a very advanced state of deterioration.
- Mission
Transform this abandoned house into a welcoming accomodation for long-term rentals within the limits of a limited budget.
- Main Interventions
The house was completely gutted and redesigned in order to optimize every inch of the future living space. Once walls were knocked down and the existing structure completely reinforced, the renovation really began. We built one central, interior, stair case that now leads to all three flights of the home. The attic was turned into a spacious, warm and welcoming loft complete with skylights. We chose natural and robust materials, as well as a neutral color palette. By doing so, we hoped that future tenants would easily envision themselves in this space and would be inspired to decorate it as their own.
